Luke Aalgaard grew up in Grand Forks, ND. As a child, he spent winter holidays skiing at Frostfire Hill in Walhalla, ND. He later attended the University of North Dakota where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree. During college Luke spent a lot of time watching Teton Gravity Research (TGR) ski flicks and dreamed of one day being one of those guys.
After college he moved to Lake Tahoe, California where he worked as a bartender for the Hacienda de la Sierra, where he learned a lot of bad Spanish. If you know what I mean. He also worked as a lifeguard on the beach in the summer. In the winter at Tahoe, Luke bumped chairs, was a ski rental technician and later a Ski Instructor.
The dream continues…
Luke learned the snow was lighter and dryer in Jackson Hole. He moved to Jackson and roomed with a cowboy, 2 Mormons and a couple of Aussies. Good times had by all. He was hired on as a Ski Instructor. Soon becoming PSIA certified. Jackson had a record snowfall year the first year he was there. This meant you could ski off any cliff and land on your head and be ok. So he did. While in Jackson he won the prestigious award for sending some of the biggest airs on the mountain. The award is called “Hucking your Meat”.
Luke now resides in Vancouver, BC Canada and is the owner of Algard / World Wide Hail Repair Solutions. In the winter, Luke spends his time skiing the world and playing hockey. If you would like to join Luke for a day on the mountain, get a hold of him and he will show you around.
This site is dedicated his cousin, friend and artist, Jack Erickson, who passed away this year at the age of 34. Jack loved his family, oil painting, traveling, golfing, chess, tennis, reading and “chillaxing” with friends. JackPaints.com
